90 Hz, 120 Hz, 144 Hz vs 60 Hz COMPARISION HIGHER REFRESH RATE or FPS. Which One is BETTER. Practical Answer.

Recently we have seen many smartphones Display coming up with higher refresh rates such as 120 Hz 90 Hz and some brands have even gone for 144 Hz such as Asus Rog Phone 3. But always a question arises that do we need them actually. Here we will have a practical test between 90 Hz and 60 Hz with some facts.

This is my view on Smartphone Features that actually Matters

What is Refresh Rate Display? What does 90 Hz or 120 Hz Display mean?

Refresh Rate simply means the number of frames per second that a display can support. Such as 60 Hz means 60 frames per second. Say you took a continuous picture of an event and when you change every picture in such a manner that it resembles a continuous video without audio that is you are just passing frames i.e pictures. Same applies to the video they are just frames passing per second in such a fast rate that it seems to be a video

Difference between Higher Refresh Rate or Hz vs Normal 60 Hz.

Lets directly jump to the few points to clearly have a better understanding.

  • The human eye can hardly seen sense any changes higher than 60 Hz. More than 60 Frames per second (fps) is not something sensed with the human eye.
  • We people are so okay with a 60 Hz refresh rate or fps while playing PC games. Then do you think that we actually need a Higher Refresh Rate? Smartphone apps are yet to have enough games that actually support 90 or 120 Hz fps. Even the PUBG MOBILE that you play supports at max of 60 Hz in any Smartphone yet to be released. So anyone playing on playing on Oneplus or ASUS ROG phone is still playing in 60 HZ and feels smooth? RIGHT!
  • We couldn't sense 90 or 120 Hz Refresh Rate or FPS but we could feel them while scrolling the UI of the phone but do you think in the long run that would even matter to you? Higher Refresh Rate doesn't mean lag-free experience, it just means that you will the UI to be smoother a bit. That it. Here is your HIGHER REFRESH RATE or FPS benefit.
  • One important thing to keep in mind is that HIGHER REFRESH RATE or FPS drains the battery a lot, one would usually prefer to have a lower refresh rate when using the phone to last longer. HIGHER REFRESH RATE or FPS requires better processing power and that consumes a lot of battery as well.
90hz vs 60hz comparison

I think I made it quite clear which refresh rate we actually need. That is why PIXEL 4A comes with 60 HZ being on the more practical side and OnePlus Nord with 120 Hz Refresh Rate just to please the customers.
